<p>This is for those who enjoy the interface between Ham radio and
the baby-steps Humankind is taking toward exploring our solar
system and beyond. In case you missed it, this is from the
current issue of ARRL's <i>On the Air </i>magazine:</p>
<p>In February 2006 the crew of the International Space Station
installed a 2-meter FM amateur radio transmitter in the helmet of
a retired Russian spacesuit, and released the whole shebang into
orbit. It was known as SuitSat-1. Reliable transmission only
lasted for two orbits, but there were reports of a weak signal for
another few weeks. In September SuitSat-1 entered the Earth's
atmosphere and burned up.</p>
<p>Recently this story was resurrected as the theme of a very short
