<div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">To add little history of why we haven't used the club call sign (W6ZZK) recently. In Morse Code speak, "K" is a pro sign meaning "Over." So that being the last letter in the call-sign there has been confusion reported from receiving stations whether the K was part of the call-sign or the end of the transmission. To get around that issue we have used Extra Class Member's call-signs for the event. Apparently, call-signs ending with a "dit" can also be a bit hard copy for what ever reason. Therefore we've used, NU6O and KG6LHW both ending on "dahs." Anyway, just food for thought for why we've done things the way we have. <div><div dir="ltr">In the past, way past, we used to be listed on the ARRL site on the Field Day site locator. That ended at some point in the past, and Jim Armstrong did whatever he needed to do to get us listed again. That is something we need to do every year (just having your club listed one year doesn't carry over to following years, etc.) I don't know exactly what Jim did, but I know the location was on the locator map, so traveling hams could find us, and a talk-in frequency (146.52 most likely), and also I do recall we needed to specify the call we would be using, so those wanting to work as many Field Day stations as possible could avoid duplicates.<br clear="none"><br clear="none">Also, at some later point in time, Jim registered HARC with the ARRL as a Contest Club. He needed to give them a list of members, their calls, and their addresses, I think because of a so-many-miles-radius rule (that rule would cut down on hams not physically nearby trying to rack up points by making contacts from many different geographic locations). As I recall, we could, from different locations, make contacts at home or on a roving vehicle, under the club call sign (as long as we were in the same geographic radius) and it would count toward contest standings for the club as a whole.<br clear="none"><br clear="none">With the Covid changes, looks like Jim was thinking way way ahead. Someone who contests more than I do (which is pretty much never) might come up with a better answer. But yes, if we want our FD contacts to count for the club, I think we would need to use the same call. A lot easier to keep track of if we are all in the same location, such as a Field Day site, but technically possible if we keep our transmitters within the designated radius, whatever that is for a given event.<br clear="none"><br clear="none">So it is my understanding that in order for a contact to count for our club, the contact would need to be made with the club call sign.
